I am satisfied with this power adapter. Actually i received it exactly the day specified. Its really working great. Only thing is Normally when the power is low in ur mac battery, it will warn u to plug ur power adapter. But that doesnt happen. My Mac just shutsdown by itself without warning about power. But it is well worth for the price u pay.

I was a little nervous when I saw a somewhat negative review about this vendor’s replacement battery for the 12″ PowerBook. It complained that it didn’t match the aluminum finish or have the right power level indicator. Well, this battery for the 15″ PB had no such problems. It looks just like the Apple original and is finally giving me back several hours of use at a time — and saved me or so. I’ve only had it for about a month, but so far it’s working just as I’d hoped.

After several months of use I’m happy to report that this battery charges and holds its charge exactly as it should. I can’t detect any difference between this one and the MacIntosh battery that it replaced.

There’s often a difference between a a factory original product and a low-cost replacement but in this case the only difference I can find is the welcome savings.

If you are in the market for this battery, your beloved 12 inch Powerbook is several years old. I love mine for its form factor, I have yet to find another laptop this transportable. With OS 10.5, and a new 150GB HD, it has a lot of life left in it yet. One day the software will overwhelm it and it will be too slow, or I will need some “intel-only” new software and this will have to go. But not yet.

So the only deficiency of my laptop was the old battery – that was down to 13% of its original capacity. How do I know that? Get “coconutbattery” a free utility that will show you just how bad your battery is. Then get this battery to replace your original. So at 13% I was getting only about 20 minutes. This battery does the job, my laptop now has 4 hrs life again. I highly recommend this. Yes, the color is 0.5% different than the original. For me that is not worth the extra to buy the Apple battery. You be the judge. By the way, the one I received does have 5 lights same as the original. Cheers.

Oh PS you should take your old battery to a recycling center. Many stores will accept them.

As the previous review mentioned before the majority of differences with this battery and an official Apple one are mostly aesthetic. Functionally it works great and holds a charge well if you calibrate it first. I was happily surprised when I found out that the battery’s case is indeed aluminum, unfortunately it’s not quite the same color as my PowerBook so when you flip the laptop it’s glaringly obvious the battery isn’t Apple made. Mine also doesn’t sit flush on the right side of the computer (sticks out less than the thickness of a dime).

I don’t think I’ll buy another non-Apple battery for my laptop simply because I prefer the fit and finish of the original Apple battery. However, being that my computer is getting long in the tooth anyway this new battery should at least give me another year of good service before I upgrade to a new laptop.

Make sure this is the battery your laptop is compatible with, it is perfectly compatible with mine and it works as well as the one that came with my computer. Long life, no problems whatsoever.

This was a terrible choice. Once I received the battery, it worked for about a week. Even then, it did not work properly. The percentage left on the battery was never correct. One day, I was notified for about 45 minutes straight (approximately once a minute) that I was on reserve power. After a week, the computer no longer recognized the battery. I just now decided to try it again, and the battery will not charge at all.

The product description says:

“Original Brand New Apple Laptop AC Adapter with New Power Cord.”

To me that means it should come with the white square power brick and the white cord that hooks the power brick into the wall. When my order arrived, it contained the power brick but the cord included was black and clearly not made by apple. The black cord fits the power adapted however it does not complete the “sqaure” of the powerbrick. This whole thing was very misleading and now I see why it was so cheap. Buyer beware. I should have bought the official replacement from apple. My mistake.

I purchased this adapter from this seller. Firstly, it was the wrong power setting, only 45W instead of the 65W which is sold in America. Secondly, the adapter which plugs into the computer was smaller than the orignial Apple adapter and cracked in only 4 months of usage. This product is being pawned off as a new power adapter, but is really just a refurbished adapter which is junk. I wasted 55 bucks on it, don’t waste your money. Buy the adapter from Apple. Your extra 25 bucks will buy a product which may last years, instead of months.

This is one of the most affordable replacements for Mac PowerBook that I’ve found. The cheaper ones have variable settings that get hot or over/under power the laptop. This one appears to have the appropriate power conversion and fits perfectly. The only major difference from the expensive Mac power cord is that there is no lighted ring where it plugs into the computer to indicate whether it’s charging or charged. But this is information is evident on the computers desktop battery indicator so I don’t miss it.

This is the second generic mac adapter I’ve bought, not wanting to spend on one from Apple. This one, like the other, died after only 3 months of use. It’s not worth the money, both for the lack of life of the item and also for the hassle it causes when you’re stuck without laptop power and can’t access anything until a new one arrives. I buy lots of things generic, but in this case, I’d spend the money on something that’s not a piece of junk.

I have had a “classic” 15″ Powerbook Titanium G4 (1GHz)about five years. The machine travels with me and I use it every day, usually without a plug-in. This my fourth battery, following two supplied by Apple, the original and a backup, and another third party replacement. The Apple batteries were well made, but would only run for only about two hours. The third party replacement had a higher capacity, but it was a little too small for the machine and would disconnect when the machine was moved. I finally fixed this problem by applying a strip of tape to the end of the battery so it would fit snug. Also, that battery was finished with silver colored paper, badly applied so it wrinkled visibly. This battery seems to have the virtues of both previous kinds. It is beautifully finished, fits perfectly and is giving me more than three hours on a charge.

My wife had taken over my old Powerbook when I bought my MacBook Pro. It only had one issue…a 25 minute battery life. I picked this battery up as a Christmas present and she’s loved every second of it. She can get a legit 4 to 4 1/2 hours out of a full charge with wifi on and the screen on bright.

Well worth the money.

Everything critical that everyone has written below is absolutely true. It’s cute with a funky design and — and these are the only positive things I can write. It can’t stand up to regular use. You’ll need a replacement sooner or later either because the cord ripped, the contact shorts or because you lost the prongs.

This is a terrible product – Apple should be ashamed of itself for allowing anything as cheesy as this part to remain in production. I’ve been through two of these adapters. As many reviewers have previously mentioned, my first adapter broke because of the inexcusably thin wire and flimsy connector that plugs into the laptop. The second Apple adapter I purchased just internally combusted,made a popping sound and quit working one day after three months of casual use. This product is so poor that it puts the entire Apple laptop product line in a poor light. Even though I am a big fan of OS X, I would have to think long and hard before buying more apple hardware.

If you either need more power than one battery can provide, or you’ve found that the original battery for your powerbook isn’t holding enough of a charge anymore, this is the officially branded replacement.

If you need to look up the details on your current battery before you decide, then click on the apple, select “about this mac” and then hit the “more info” button. Your battery’s data is in the hardware section under power with the heading “Battery Information”.

Apple Inc. provides a lot of information on the proper care of your batteries on their website. The basics are that if you’re not planning to run your powerbook off of its battery for a while, you can store it (preferably at about 40% power) in a cold place to extend its lifespan. Additionally, about once every 30 times you use up the full charge of the battery and then recharge it (that’s a total of 30 even if you do it in smaller increments, if you used up half of the battery each day it’d take 60 days, etc) you should keep it on battery power completely until it runs down to nothing and let it go to sleep due to lack of power before charging back up. This is just to give the battery an occasional chance to check on what its current maximum charge is, so that the time/percentage reported by OS X can remain accurate.

So what do you say about a battery? It works? Batteries eventually go bad so they have to be replaced. Key is to get a good battery at a good price. I shopped around and found this battery on Amazon.com for 1/2 the price of other batteries of the same type. This battery has a capacity of 4400 mAh… I found several costing more having only 4000 mAh (so watch for that). Battery works fine and holds it’s charge as expected. I guess the other question is how many recharge cycles it will take before it starts to degrade. Time will tell. Till then, I’m happy with this product.

I purchased this battery on November 30, 2009, and I wanted to review it after a little time had passed. Two months later, it is going strong.

From the start, the battery worked well and had a good battery life. I bought this battery and a battery for my G4 iBook from the same seller: BrilliantStore. The cost of both was less than a single new battery from Apple, and I haven’t been disappointed with either of them.

Will this battery last another couple of years (like the original Apple batteries did)? Or will it conk out sooner, thereby vindicating the more expensive Apple-made replacement? Or could it last even longer?

Only time will tell.

The plug part of the adapter broke just after a week of use. The picture is deceiving. It is not close to the same quality and construction as the actual apple product. I ended up forking over the 80 bucks for the “real” adapter at the apple store which works just fine. Save yourself the headache. Don’t buy this.

The item was not the same as the picture. It was an off brand charger, similar to the cheaper ones you might find here on amazon. Mine was one part black and the other white. I payed a little more expecting to have a charger similar to the original that might last a bit longer than the others :X
